Description: Focusing on Nebuchadnezzar's dream in Daniel 2, David Grabbe maintains that five successive Gentile powers, rather than four, have actually held control over Jerusalem for over 2500 years. Because all the empires have successively degraded, the fifth empire should be viewed as a separate rather than a continuation of the fourth (Roman) Empire. Since the collapse of the Roman Empire, for nearly 1400 years the Arabs and the Muslims have exercised control of Jerusalem, including the Temple Mount. This political-religious entity will be destroyed by the Kingdom of God. (16 minutes)
